A three call day for the Smithton Volunteer Fire Department started at 14:30 when Stations 107(Turkeytown), 17(Smithton), 19(Yukon), 74(East Huntingdon Twp.) and 58(Scottdale) were activated to 122 Manns Road, South Huntingdon Twp. for a possible electrical fire.  Stations 60(Everson) and 27(Hunker) were then added to the alarm.  Asst 74 arrived to find a high tension wire down but was not endangering the resident as  Attack 17 arrived.  All units were canceled with the exception of 107 but Attack 17 was then called back to scene per Engine 107 and cleared short time later.

Then at 15:49 Stations 107, 19 and 17 were activated for a vehicle accident in the area of 1829 Mt. Pleasant Road in South Huntingdon Twp.  Second reports stated the accident was in front of Ace Hardware on Rt. 136 and Attack 17 was canceled.

Finally at 19:41 Stations 107, 17 and 19 were again activated, this time for a vehicle fire on Interstate 70 Westbound near Exit 49(Smithton).  Personnel on scene reported that hay bales on a trailer were on fire and both Westbound lanes blocked.  With the lanes clear all 17 units were ordered to respond East in the Westbound lanes.  Attack, Squrt and Engine 17 arrived to find a working fire as other units arrived.  Tanker 139(Washington Twp.) was added to the alarm to assist with water supply.  Crews worked to extinguish the fire and cleared approx 3 hours later.

Engine 105(Rostraver Central) responded to Station 17 for Stand-by during the incident.
